Sarah Persaud is a 19 year old student currently living in LaSalle. She is enrolled in the dual-degree Concurrent Education Program at the University of Windsor for English Language and Literature. Having completed upwards of 240 hours of classroom placement as a student-teacher thus far, Sarah looks forward, with great excitement, to becoming a fully qualified teacher. Sarah is extremely grateful to have been given the opportunity to be involved in various school communities and make a difference in the lives of her students and the livelihoods of these communities. She is also an avid singer, songwriter, and loves to read and write poetry.
Sarah competed in the 2022 Miss Windsor Pageant, and loved every moment of it. From making new friends to gaining self-confidence and a stronger work ethic, Sarah felt that the Miss Windsor pageant allowed her to discover a new side of herself and become more extroverted and involved.
Sarah’s platform is the RMHC, or the Ronald McDonald House Charities. RMHC is a charity that allows families to stay near to their sick loved ones when receiving treatment, and has saved hundreds of thousands of families millions of dollars in out-of-pocket expenses such as food and accommodation. Being born early, Sarah’s family had to stay in an RMHC when she was being cared for as a baby, so this charity holds a special place near and dear to her heart. In an average year, 26,000 families are helped by RMHC, but sadly 46,000 families are left without support. If Sarah were to win the title of Miss LaSalle, Sarah would do anything in her power, such as fun fundraiser and charity events, to continuing helping support families in their times of need and gather donations, just as the donations of others had helped her family.
Sarah is incredibly thankful to be a part of Miss LaSalle 2023, and strives to impose kindness, knowledge, and a sense of togetherness in her beautiful home community.
